The Experience
Much of Mauritius' storied past is linked to sugarcane. While the industry is in decline, there are still sugarcane fields and old mills across the island. Rise early to see the planters head out into the fields and learn to cut the cane the traditional way, using a machete. Take a break with the planters and enjoy your tiffin box snack. A tiffin is a stacked metal container that you see all over India. After a refreshing glass of sugarcane juice, learn to make a rum-based cocktail at our bar.
What's included
Early morning bike ride to Mare La Chaux to see the sugarcane planters
Learn to cut sugar cane the traditional way
Sip on a refreshing sugarcane juice, known as a "Fangourin"
Enjoy a typical Bento-style 'tiffin' lunch break in the field with the planters
Craft a rum-based cocktail with our mixologist
